December 5th was the United Way of 1000 Lakes annual Ugly Sweater Day. Our Grand Rapids offices were rocking their holiday sweaters and raising money for a great cause!
Our Community Impact Crew and staff were out celebrating Minnesota United Acts of Kindness Week November 18th - 21st. They were cash mobbing random people while they were out shopping and giving them $20 gift cards towards their Thanksgiving Day celebration. We stopped at nine different grocery stores in our branch communities and gave away 22 gift cards!
Our amazing employees volunteering at the Second Harvest North Central Food Bank on World Kindness Day. Thank you for taking the time to support a wonderful organization in our community.
On November 5th we celebrated National Donut Day and gave out donuts in all of our branches.

American Bank employees were busy the week of October 14th volunteering at our local Food Banks in honor of National Food Bank Week.
American Bank was proud to sponsor of the 2019 Iron Range STEM event on October 4th at the Hibbing Memorial Building. Children stopped by our booth and learned about “gravity” with our awesome bankers.
For the month of September, we celebrated Minnesota Bankers Community Impact Month! This was a way for banks to highlight the many opportunities available to help build stronger, local communities. We are a community bank, with community values and are committed to giving back to local organizations not only during this month, but all year round.
During Community Impact Month, American Bank supported the following agencies: United Way of Northeastern MN, Advocates for Family Peace, Care Partners and Feeding My Starving Children.
On September 30th, we had a fun time celebrating National Coffee Day by Cash Mobbing local coffee shops and giving their customers American Bank coffee mugs and we paid for their coffee!
Regional President, Chris Carlson and Personal Bankers, Jessika Plackner & Dar Peters trained individuals on Financial Education as part of Community Impact Month.
On September 7th, American Bank employees participated in the United Way of 1000 Lakes Lumberjack Kick-Off Event.
On August 20th, we celebrated National Radio Day by delivering treats to our local radio stations! Thank you for entertaining us every day!
On August 19th we celebrated National Soft Ice Cream Day by giving away kiddie cones to the first 200 customers at the Grand Rapids Dairy Queen.
American Bank staff had a great time volunteering during National Night Out on August 6th in Grand Rapids, Hibbing and Mt. Iron.
On August 3rd, we participated in the 2019 Doc Moonlight Graham Parade. It was fun and the weather was hot!
On July 31st our Community Impact Crew was out celebrating National Avocado Day by cash mobbing Mucho Si in Nashwauk and their customers today. Customers enjoyed guacamole and chips on us.
On July 13th, we participates in the 2019 Hibbing Jubilee Sweetest Parade was a blast. A special thank you to Madi Chamberlin for joining American Bank during the parade to help toss footballs and candy!
On July 1st, in honor of National Postal Worker Day, we made a few special deliveries to our local post offices. Thank you to all the hardworking men and women who work diligently (in all weather conditions) to deliver all of our mail and packages. We greatly appreciate it!
On June 18th Nora, Nicole and Amanda from our Community Impact Crew volunteered at the Hibbing Salvation Army packing food bags for the food shelf.
On June 13th, credit analysts, Andrea and Stefanie, volunteered their time at United Way of Northeastern MN Wild About Reading event at the Minnesota Discovery Center.
On June 12th, Customer Service Representative, Amanda Pihlaja, taught a class of TRIO Upward Bound students on Financial Literacy at the Hibbing Community College. The Hibbing Community College TRIO Upward Bound (HCC UB) program provides academic and life skills advising as well as social and cultural activities designed to build student’s academic skills, motivation, and the self-confidence necessary to succeed in college. HCC -UB serves 50 students from Hibbing, Chisholm, and Nashwauk-Keewatin School high schools.
On May 22nd, in honor of National EMS Week, we made special deliveries to our area emergency medical service heroes and emergency responders for their dedicated service.
On May 16th, in honor of National Police Week, American Bank employees made special deliveries to our area police departments thanking them for their service and protection.
Amanda Pihlaja and Nicole Freeman volunteered at the Hibbing Chamber of Commerce’s Luau Pub Crawl. This was the chamber’s first time coordinating an event like this and it was a huge success!
Linda Roskos and Nicole Freeman volunteered at the United Way’s Flavor of the North. They had a great time and over $47,000 was raised during the event for UWNEMN Buddy Backpack program.
American Bank employees showed their support for the Walk MS fundraiser at the IRA Civic Center in Grand Rapids this past May. Our employees generously donated $265 to help find a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Hibbing Police Department K-9 Fundraiser
Luke, Cassie, Nicole, Gerri, Amanda & Becky (not pictured) had a fun night volunteering at the Hibbing Police Department’s K-9 Fundraiser April 8th.
United Way of NEWMN Annual Campaign Celebration
Shelly, Linda, Nicole, Marci, Amanda and Gerri enjoyed a nice evening at the United Way's Annual Campaign Celebration March 28th. American Bank was a proud sponsor of this event.
Grand Rapids Kiwanis Club
Cathy, Beth, Linette and Dan had a great time at the Grand Rapids Kiwanis Club’s 3rd Annual Minute to Win It event. Although they didn’t win, they had a fun time. American Bank was a proud sponsor of this event.
The Salvation Army
American Bank employees volunteered with the Salvation Army on December 13th, ringing the bells the entire day at Super One locations in Hibbing, Grand Rapids and Virginia.

Winter Gear Drive - United Way of Northeastern Minnesota
American Bank held a Winter Gear Drive for United Way of Northeastern Minnesota in November. We collected 362 hats, mittens, gloves, scarves for children in need in our communities.

Community Cafe - Itasca Empty Bowl Project
Buddy Backpack - United Way of Northeastern Minnesota
American Bank employees volunteered at United Way of Northeastern Minnesota Dick Enrico Building and packed 1,760 backpacks with nutritious, nonperishable, child-friendly food items for children who are at risk of going hungry over the weekends due to various reasons. This program is designed to assist over 900 children that are facing hunger between the Iron Range and Koochiching County.

National Night Out
American Bank employees volunteered during National Night Out on August 7, 2018 at Hibbing Bennett Park. They assisted in handing out food to the public during the city-wide free picnic.

American Bank made a donation of $2,500 to the renovation of the historic Lyric Building. The Lyric Center for the Arts mission is to provide artistic and educational opportunities for children and adults across the Iron Range while renovating the historic Lyric Building. American Bank proudly sponsors the arts in our communities.

Meet Up and Chow Down - United Way of Northeastern Minnesota
American Bank employees volunteered in Nashwauk, Hibbing, Chisholm and Eveleth Monday - Thursday all summer long to help with United Way's Meet Up and Chow Down program - a free summer lunch program for all children. The program is provided through support from the USDA and Minnesota Department of Education's Summer Food Service Program.

Day of Action - United Way of 1,000 Lakes
United Way of 1,000 Lakes Day of Action took place on June 21, 2018. American Bank employees who volunteered at this event spent the day painting, landscaping, creating public art and assembling care packages.

Hygiene Drive - United Way of Northeastern Minnesota
American Bank held a Hygiene Drive for the United Way of Northeastern Minnesota in March 2018. We collected hygiene products for children in need in our area communities.
American Bank employees volunteered at the 8th Annual Might Mutts event which raised over $24,000. All monies raised during this event benefits our area animal shelters.
